The best new games we played this week

We were quite busy this week. A bunch of big mobile games launched over the past few days, alongside a few teeny surprises. There're lots of quality games to load your phone with. We've gone and picked out five of our favorites for the week.

The latest entry in the Zombie Gunship series went live this week, dishing up hours of survival missions that play out from your very own gunship. With basebuilding elements and endless hordes of zombies, there's a lot to dig into in Zombie Gunship Survival.

Skullgirls, the indie fighting game that became a cult hit on PC and consoles, is now available on iOS. The game has adjusted its mechanics to better fit touchscreen devices, but it's still very much a satisfying brawler. If Injustice 2 didn't satisfy your cravings, maybe Skullgirls Mobile will do the trick.


Artifical Superintelligence is basically Reigns set in the future. You now take on the role of a developer working on a hyper-intelligent AI. Your decisions, which you make by swiping right or left, will determine how your program evolves over time. It's certainly an interesting take on what is quickly becoming a popular new mobile genre.
Beholder casts you as a landlord in a totalitarian state. It's a bit reminiscent of Papers, Please though a little less gruelling, emotionally. Regardless, you'll have to make some tough choices as you keep an eye on your residents to ensure that they're behaving in line with the restrictive government's wishes.
