Witch Twitch is a micro-game about busting ghosts by matching colors on a wheel with colors of a ghost. While it has a nice aesthetic and a pleasant simplicity to it, there are some issues with the game's UI and color presentation that make it feel more frustrating than it should.
The premise of Witch Twitch is odd, but really simple. You play as a witch, who is minding her own business as ghosts of various colors and sizes barge into your home. To defend against them, you have a magic color wheel that somehow defeats them if you match the color of your wheel with that of the ghost before they reach you.
At the start of any round, you'll have only two colors on your wheel, but after every ghost you defeat, another color is added, making Witch Twitch get very difficult even after defeating only a handful of ghosts.
Bewitchingly simpleThere really isn't much more to Witch Twitch besides color matching against ghosts. There aren't any unlocks, currencies, bonuses, or anything else to the game besides a leaderboard.
Although you might feel like you want there to be more to the game, it's kind of refreshing to see a game so pure.
Twitching colorsAlthough Witch Twitch is a nice, stripped down game, it unfortunately doesn't quite nail the simple gameplay that it presents. As you add more colors to your color wheel two things happen that are pretty frustrating. The first is that the wheel twitches to add space for the new colors, and colors quickly start looking very close to one another.
I know that the color similarities might have been a move to try and make Witch Twitch more challenging, but the combination of that and the jarring wheel movement that occurs when adding colors makes it hard to keep the wheel where you want it.
The bottom lineWitch Twich is a nice, colorful game that doesn't have a lot to it. This would be totally fine, but what little substance there is in the game is kind of flawed.
