Tapping into that iOS7 look that we'll all be enjoying soon, Aero is a distinctly minimalist yet appealing weather app. It's not really going to entice stat fiends but for those who simply want to know what to expect, as well as a few other pertinent details, it does the job with style.
Aero hardly needs any kind of setting up other than agreeing to allow it to track one's location. Immediately, users are given an idea of the weather in their area at the given time. The top half of the screen is devoted to the location name, temperature, and brief weather description. Underneath that is the humidity percentage, wind speed, and current pressure, followed by an idea of what conditions to expect for the next five days.
The background to this page alters depending on the conditions. For instance, on a cloudy day, gently moving clouds clutter the screen. Similarly, there are rain effects, a brighter screen for particularly hot days and even a lightning bolt and thunder effects on those stormy days. It's simply done but adds a great visual flourish to things.
Further basic functionality comes from the ability to add as many cities as one wants, arrange them in any order they desire, as well as switch between imperial or metric measurements. It's possible to learn something about an area too, via the ability to view a Wikipedia entry for a town or city by holding one's finger down on its name.
Aero might not bother with anything more complex than that, but that's pretty much all it needs to appeal. The subtle visual flourishes will no doubt look all the more attractive once iOS 7 comes along and it ties naturally into that appearance.
