Charming and cute, if lacking complex features, Wake Up With Disney is a fun way to wake up, whatever the user's age. It won't beat more feature-rich alarm clock apps, but in terms of sheer personality it makes a pleasant change from the rest.
Essentially, Wake Up With Disney places Donald Duck into one's iOS device. He's not a virtual pet so there's no need to worry about his wellbeing. Instead, he's there to wake up the user as enthusiastically as he can manage. Set the alarm and once that time hits Donald repeatedly jumps in the air, shouting at the user to get up. In a deep slumber he can be a little irritating, admittedly, but it certainly wakes one up easily enough.
There's more to the app than that simple feature, though. For instance, the app can be left open all night with Donald gradually snoozing away as the iOS device screen goes darker. A small but cute touch, and one that will undoubtedly appeal to kids. It's possible to interact with Donald, as well, such as by tapping/poking him or by pressing one of the three interact buttons. These enable users to see him play golf, get angry, or celebrate a victory. It's all done with typical Donald Duck charm.
More practically, Wake Up With Disney also has a flashlight tool built into it as well as animated weather forecasts for convenience. While the flashlight tool might be less useful now that iOS 7 already offers such facilities, it's still convenient.
That's pretty much it when it comes to features within Wake Up With Disney, though. There's no way of viewing or buying other characters, although it is possible to view Donald in three different costumes. Presumably, new characters will come at a later date, but for now it does feel a little sparse. While Wake Up With Disney might lack a few features for the more business-minded user, it's tricky to not be amused by Donald's activities. It's certainly a fun way to rise.
