Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realm War - download for iOS

A MOBA set in the fantasy world of Games Workshop. You pick a hero, then lead your forces into one-on-one battles with players from all over the world. Collect cards, power up your champions, and work your way up the league structure to prove that you're the best of the best.

Why we think you'll like it: While it takes the basic shape of Clash Royale, the game mixes in some interesting new ideas that make the experience a little thicker. Then there's the fact that it looks absolutely stunning. Seriously, some of the animation here is just incredible. Ammo Pigs: Armed and Delicious - download for iOS

This one's a super, super, SUPER tough shooter set in a future where the AI of a slaughterhouse has taken over the planet. The only creatures left to fight it, as you can almost certainly figure out from the name of the game, are pigs. Ammo pigs, to be specific.

Why we think you'll like it: Because it's really hard and we're pretty sure that half of you are masochists. That said, there are three difficulty levels that allow you to tweak the game to your liking, and the level design is sharp enough that once you've finished one, you're going to jump straight into the next. Where Shadows Slumber - download for iOS

What happens when you make light the core mechanic of your game? Something like Where Shadows Slumber. It's a game where the main way you interact with the world is with a magical lantern that casts shadows that can change levels entirely.

Why we think you'll like it: Not only is this one smart, it's really well thought out, and brilliantly put together. There's a really intriguing and dark story as well, and you'll want to push on until the end to find out what's going on and what the world has in store for the plucky, lamp-wielding protagonist. Cube Escape: Paradox - download for iOS

If you're a fan of the Cube Escape series then there's a very real chance you've already downloaded this one. If not, it's a puzzling adventure series with a dark and strange story. But the games stand on their own as well, so this is as good a place as any to start off.

Why we think you'll like it: There's no getting away from the fact that the Cube Escape and Rusty Lake games are a bit odd. But it's the sort of oddness that everyone can get behind. Think an interactive Twin Peaks with even more 'huh?' moments and you're getting there. Quite frankly the world needs more games like that. Life is Strange: Before the Storm - download for iOS

This one came as something of a surprise, but it's the sort of surprise you can't help but get excited about. It's the prequel to the brilliant Life is Strange, and while it might have been out on other consoles for a while, this is the first time it's been small enough to fit in your pocket.

Why we think you'll like it: There aren't many games on the App Store that can foster an emotional connection as well as Life is Strange, and this prequel continues in the same vein. It doesn't pull its punches, and when it hits you, it hits you right in the feels. It's hard to think of more than a few games for iOS that do the same.
