The Holiday Update Roundup: Part 1

The winter holidays are upon us, marking one of the best times in the year to be (or become) a mobile games enthusiast. Developers are rolling out creative holiday updates to reward loyal players for supporting their games with fun costumes, new levels, and other add-ons to get you into the holiday mood. Here are just a few of the games that have gotten the holiday treatment over the past few days.
Keeping with holiday tradition, Temple Run 2 has unleashed its annual Christmas update, allowing players to run about forbidden ruins as either Mr. or Mrs. Claus. The wintery theme presents new challenges and rewards if you manage to elude the scary monsters for long enough, and players will even get a special present come Christmas day.
Dan the Man is all about exploration, so Halfbrick has drawn up an entire winter level for folks to wander. Watch out for wintery enemies and a new boss monster that will try to slip you up. Fitting with the holiday theme, this new area even features a completely new side quest. The update includes winter outfits as well, if you really want to get into the spirit of things.
This devious little puzzler will have you scratching your noggin all over again in its cheery Christmas update. Asymmetric's innovative gameplay will now be complemented with a holiday makeover complete with snowflakes, holiday stickers, and six new characters, which can be unlocked with in-game currency. Two characters, Santa and Rudolph, are free to all, though, as a little holiday gift.
Pokémon GO got a wopper of an update this week, but part of that includes the addition of holiday Pikachus sprinkled across the globe. These cute little critters are now donning Santa hats. If you evolve one, it'll turn into a holiday Raichu. It's pretty much the gift that keeps on giving.
Towns and the outlying wilderness in Peter Molyneux's The Trail are getting their own fine coating of snow and some choice holiday content. Players can dress up as snowmen and decorate their homes with Christmassy bits and bobbles.
The holiday season is a great time to return to some of your old, favorite games on mobile with lots of wintery treats to be had. Check back in, gather up some presents, and have some fun. There are plenty of other holiday updates to come, so stay tuned.
