Strava Makes Cycling More Social

Biking by its nature is a bit of a solitary activity. Sure, you could choose to go riding with a friend or family member, but most likely you are never on the same page in terms of pacing and/or distance, which makes at least one of the riders have to compromise their own competitive needs. When you want to let loose and really pull away from the pack, there is nothing more frustrating than having to wait for Uncle Sal to catch his breath because that last chilli dog is catching up with him.

Why not instead allow yourself the full social experience of riding, while not having to deal with any dead weight dragging you down? The new app Strava Cycling allows you to do just that, while also keeping track of your personal stats, ride after gut wrenching ride. Some of the software's unique features include:

  • Record your bike rides, view maps and analyze ride data.
  • Compete for King and Queen of the Mountain honors on auto-detected climbs.
  • Motivate yourself to ride further and faster, and move higher on the leaderboards.
  • Instantly upload your rides to the Strava.com community, where you can track your performance, enter events, and join clubs.

Not only will this app help you to keep better track of your progress throughout the training process, but it will bring out the best in your competitive side as well. Just imagine getting to the bottom a hill, only to see the top ten people who have completed that climb ahead of you. This would be amazing in cities with a large population, but be ready to face some stiff challenges from the crowd. Here is to hoping that some jerk on a moped doesn't ruin the curve for everyone else!

Strive to make yourself better by taking on the best that your community has to offer. You will certainly not regret it.
