| Stan Lee’s Hero Command

Stan Lee’s Hero Command is dull. Any form of entertainment that’s dull is somehow more disappointing than something that invokes feelings of annoyance. It’s so dull that I don’t even feel much enthusiasm when writing about it. It's a game that merely exists while not trying particularly hard to stand out.

It’s a button masher at heart. You work your way through various small missions, bashing everyone in sight and maybe picking up a few collectibles along the way. By completing such a level, you gain things that can be used to upgrade your abilities. You also use up energy which correlates to an energy meter and, yes, that means waiting it out soon enough.

Stan Lee’s Hero Command is heavy on the freemium moments, right down to the fact that it asks you to watch a video in order to be revived in battle. None of that would be so bad if it wasn’t that Stan Lee’s Hero Command feels quite monotonous.

Combat is a matter of using your left finger to move a virtual joystick around, while your right hand is there for hammering the attack button or deploying a special attack. It all feels quite soulless and lacking in inspiration.

Laid out much like many other freemium games, you work your way through a map of missions, each requiring a few attempts, before achieving enough to unlock a new area. There are daily missions too, keeping things ticking along nicely. In Stan Lee’s Hero Command’s defense, you’re not going to run out of things to do any time soon, not that you’ll be all that interested.

Stan Lee makes an appearance occasionally, in need of protection by your own fair hand, but even that’s not enough to keep things interesting. It’s a formulaic hack n slasher covered by an attractive skin, but not one that can hide all its flaws.

Stan Lee’s Hero Command

Being a superhero really shouldn't be this unexciting.
