148Apps's best games of 2015 - Campbell's list

2015 has been a pretty incredible year for games. So incredible, in fact, that over 25 games made it onto my shortlist.
I won't go on and on about all of them though - so don't worry! Here are my absolute favourite mobile games of the year. The best
I can't stop thinking about Subterfuge - even when I'm not actively playing it.
It's a deep and involved strategy game wrapped up in a perfect mobile package that doesn't involve a huge time investment during each play session.
Of course, you'll spend a ton of time thinking about your next move, or how to forge an alliance, while not playing but it's the external interaction that I find so engaging and compelling.
Subterfuge is stressful, overwhelming, and intense, but it's one of the most rewarding, interesting, and gratifying games I've ever played.

I know it's a roguelike, but Sproggiwood manages to scratch a Diablo itch on mobile.
It doesn't have much loot, it's turn-based, and has very little in the way of character progression, but the procedurally-generated dungeons, interesting enemies, and unique classes results in an experience that;s fresh and interesting every time I play it.
Sproggiwood is a super charming and well designed game that's always fun to come back to.

Zombie games have been done to death.
Having said that, Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville works hard to be so much more than just a zombie kill fest.
It's kind of a 4X game in a similar vein to Civilization, but it has a crazy narrative structure that can have a direct effect on almost every system. Some of these effects are fairly straightforward, but others feel remarkably subtle.
In my time with Rebuild 3, I was constantly surprised by new and interesting developments in my quest to re-establish civilization, which is why it earns it a top spot on my list for this year.
