Sega announces the global launch date for Sonic Rumble

Back in December, we covered the pre-registration launch for Sonic Rumble. Now, we are one stage ahead with an official launch date. Sega has claimed May 8th as Sonic Day, allowing hedgehog fans a chance to enjoy some Stumble Fall Guys-ing with the speedy critters. Because, if a genre is even remotely popular, it will be done to death by everyone.
Sonic Rumble is a 32-player party of ducking, weaving and frankly trying to push everyone else off anything vaguely ledgelike. It is bad sportsmanship, and that is why we love it. Joining in the chaos are the likes of Sonic, Knuckles, Amy, and a host of other forgettable characters from the wider lore.
What helps set Sonic apart from the throng of other party games is that each character has their own suite of skills to use, allowing you to tailor your playstyle. They each have multiple skill slots for even more customisation. You will also be able to mix and match with your friends to make your own group strategies, thanks to the Crew feature.

Rather surprisingly for a series as prolific as this, the pre-registration campaign hasn’t really shot off the starting line like its namesake. There are only between 600k and 900k players signed up. I thought it would have broken the counter by now. Either way, some decent unlocks have already been reached.
Everyone who signs up will receive 5,000 Rings, a Happy Sticker, and a Crystal Chao Buddy, which looks pretty cool. At 900k, the Garnet Knuckles skin will be unlocked. Finally, there is a Movie Sonic skin as the final gift, although it is a bit misleading to lump him in with the milestone. To get this, you need to play Sonic Rumble between the launch date and December 31st.
You can pre-register for Sonic Rumble from the App Store and Google Play.
