Scrubs

Given that the TV show was cancelled 2 years ago, it's strange to see the arrival of an official game based around the world of Scrubs. Still, there are plenty of fans out there that are no doubt keen to get another dose of Sacred Heart Hospital. Pity the sharp sense of humor doesn't really reside here.

Scrubs is a Hidden Object game at its heart, interspersed with some decidedly iffy dialogue. It's the kind of scripting that makes you wonder if the people behind it have ever watched an episode of Scrubs. I fear not. Such words are delivered by some animated, bobblehead-esque caricatures which are, at least, memorable.

Step away from such peculiar presentation and the Hidden Object scenes are quite competent. A little worrying, perhaps, given just how messy areas of the hospital are, but quite appropriate. Items to be found are listed either in picture, word or outline form, adding to the variety of what needs completing. This list can be moved around the screen, greatly helping players struggling with the small details of the scenes on the iPhone screen. At times, it's fiddly to be able to tap on the right object, especially when one is located on the edge of the screen. Fortunately, players aren't harshly punished for mistaps which counteract this issue, to an extent.

Each room works together at times, with some objects needed from other rooms in order to grab a new item from a different place. Some simple puzzles also pave the way to making things a little more varied. In all cases, it's possible to use a series of hints to make things simpler. Once the free supply is exhausted, it's possible to buy new ones via in-app purchases, although there's rarely a need to.

It does all feel quite run of the mill, however. It's the kind of game that could have been done with any story backdrop, rather than requiring the Scrubs franchise, meaning it feels wasted. Hidden Object fans might enjoy it, but Scrubs fans have little reason to be enthralled.

Scrubs

Think typical Hidden Object game with an added and underused Scrubs shell, and that's exactly what we have here.
