I Am Rich (preview)

The first $1000 app in the store does nothing. And it's designed that way.

Update 8/6: In what seems to becoming a common occurrence, I Am Rich has dissappeared from the iTunes App Store. It is no known at this time if the app was taken down by Apple (as many thought they should) or the developer. Update 8/11: Added a video walkthrough -- just for historic reasons. Good to remember the first $1000 app even though it was a piece of sh*t.

Finally, the app we've all been waiting for. The application that everyone needs to show their true status in society. I Am Rich by Armin Heinrich.

I Am Rich is an application that showed up in the iTunes App Store at the amazing affordable price of $999.99. You read that correctly. On the surface, the author is positioning it as a status symbol. According to the description, the application itself does nothing except what you can see in the screenshot below. The description is that it is a work of art.

The application is a really good example of marketing -- the author is obviously trying to get some PR for his other apps. I would have suggested he wait until he had more than one other app in the store though.
