I really like the idea behind Moovit. Being able to keep track of bus and train schedules, as well as actual arrival times, is great. So is being able to set alerts for specific lines and receive updates on possible delays as reported by other users. The problem is that none of this seems to be in the Apple Watch app.
Okay, that’s not entirely true. You can get a glimpse of schedules for various lines from your Apple Watch. However, the times on display don’t actually seem to be very accurate, and delay reports don’t appear and can’t be made. You also can’t set notifications from the watch for some odd reason.
You can look up the location of a given bus stop or train platform, then get directions via the Maps app, but it’s not like you couldn’t just be using Maps in the first place. On top of that, Moovit doesn’t actually account for all the transit options in an area (where’s the M or R subway line? Or the LIRR?).
Moovit works as a somewhat decent at-a-glance list of nearby mass transit schedules, but because of the times being off and the lack of the iPhone app’s more worthwhile features it feels like an unnecessary add-on.
