iYuva Review

A small subset of children's iPhone apps go beyond providing passive entertainment or interactive education; these apps actually provide tools to expand a child's sense of space, color, and tap into a child's creativity. iYUVA is one of these. More than a freestyle drawing app or coloring game, Yuva Studio provides a swatch, a template set of stencils which can be rearranged, re-sized, and colored to create interesting, infinite combinations, resulting in abstract or realistic works of art limited only by the imagination. The final product can be shared via email and/or posted to the shared gallery.

The tool was developed by a graphic artist/parents who credit the birth of their child with the inspiration to create an environment to "foster self-expression, promote individual identity and boost confidence in young children."

My only complaint about the app is that the swatches and templates are somewhat limited compared to what is available on the web tool; at this point, only two swatches are available. Hopefully additional swatches will become available in future upgrades.
