Face Party is an app that will equally appeal to children and adults, enabling users to create fun photos out of their own images, or simply by adapting images already bundled into the package. The app's makers think it's ideal for creating fun pictures to use as avatars on social networks and forums, but it's also a concept that can prove immensely popular for kids to just mess around with.
Starting out by offering a series of video tutorials explaining what to do, one would be forgiven for thinking Face Party is complex. It's far from that. Users simply choose a picture to start with, or import one of their own, before getting to work. There's a huge array of options, covering every part of one's face. Funky eyebrows can be applied, along with different eyes that move at regular points during creation. Noses, mouths, glasses and facial hair are all available too, many offering some form of animation. There's also the option of adding a speech bubble and text, although I found when saving an image, the text isn't included.
Such saving options are easy to use, though, with a gallery also providing an at a glance look at the options available. It's a shame that there doesn't appear to be any way of sharing animated pictures through this app, only static images, as the animations are a cute bunch, bound to enthral kids.
While kids aren't the core market for Face Party, I can see that they'd be the bunch that would be most keen to spend plenty of time manipulating faces. There's fun to be had for all, but the sheer sense of imagination will lend itself, particularly well, to the younger market. At a suitably low price, it's also possible to forgive some of the flaws that Face Party exhibits, although, hopefully, the issue with text will be fixed in a future update.
