Dodo Hardcover for iPhone 5/5S Review

I've been impressed with the products from Dodo since their first book-like case for the iPad. Their products are made in San Francisco and use traditional book binding techniques to give an Old World feel to New World devices.

The Hardcover is a simple yet very well built portfolio-style case that covers the front, button side, and back of the iPhone 5 or 5S. It attaches to the iPhone with a swath of adhesive on the back cover. To attach the phone, remove the cover on the tape and line up the camera/flash in the center of the hole in the back. Square up the phone and then press to adhere. Removal is fairly simple and should allow repeated re-application without any damage.

Once adhered, the iPhone feels very secure in the case - I've noticed no slippage in my time with it. By default, the case comes with an elastic band that can be pulled around to keep the front from opening. This is optional if ordering a custom version. The online custom creation tool that allows users to customize the inside and outside of the case. Along with adding a monogram to the front. Prices jump up an additional $5 to $20 depending on the extra options ordered.

The only negative I see about this case is the adhesive. While it does allow removal and re-adhering of the iPhone, it feels like a hard frame like in the Dodo Leather Wallet would be a better solution. Perhaps in a future edition.

Small negative aside, this is a great case and is highly recommended.

The Hardcover from Dodo is a well built, sturdy portfolio type case for the iPhone 5 or 5S. It feels good in the hand and does a good job of protecting the iPhone when in a pocket or bag. Highly Recommended.
