Do you remember the barrel-flinging levels in the Donkey Kong Country games? They were pretty memorable at the time, requiring you to time everything just right in order to fly through the air. Bullet Boy is kind of like that. It’s not as good, but it's still quite fun to leap between barrels.
Bullet Boy offers some simple controls with you tapping to go between barrels. The trickier part is timing with some barrels moving automatically, some requiring you to hold a finger to them to rotate them, and others propelling you the moment you land in one. Along the way, you have to dodge obstacles too, such as birds or propellers and walls. It can all be pretty fast paced with extra points gained for accruing combos and completing such movements quickly.
At times Bullet Boy can be a little frustrating, but you’re given plenty of restart tokens when you begin, with the punishment for failure rarely being too harsh. Bullet Boy is bite-sized enjoyment, enticing you into completing a level or two any time you’ve got a spare five minutes.
