I have a confession to make - I absolutely love camera apps, and so when I heard that Realmac Software had released Analog Camera to the App Store, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it!
At it's core, Analog Camera may just seem like the average camera app with filters built-in, in fact, most people might just dismiss it as another knockoff of Camera+, when in fact, this app could easily give Camera+ a run for it's money.
The flat interface of the app is absolutely stunning. If this type of flat interface is in anyway similar to what Apple is purportedly preparing for release in iOS7 then I would be incredibly pleased. The interface of the app allows users to easily understand the controls - although a brief and helpful tutorial is also available the first time they open the app. The filters that are included with the app all work very well, and users can preview what it looks like on their image by holding down on any filter to open a small preview of the potential result.
Although the filters work and look incredibly well, there is also a succinct lack of them (7, currently). Apps like Instagram and Camera+ have an incredible amount of filters available, particularly the latter. Currently, Analog Camera only offers a measly nine, but that's not to say that more won't be coming in later updates.
When compared to other camera apps, the ingenuity behind Analog Camera's interface really comes to light. Whilst other camera apps try and squeeze in as much features as possible (often at the price of ease-of-use), Analog Camera instead opts for a simplistic approach to the camera app - and it definitely comes out winning.
For anybody who is unsatisfied with the stock camera app, wants to try out filters (without signing up to Instagram) or is just plain tired of their current camera app - Analog Camera is most definitely a good option thanks to it's intuitive and stunning interface, beautiful filters and ease-of-use!
