Red Remover is all about removing the red blocks. And keeping the green. And the blue? Well, we don't really care about them...
I've seen lots of physics games for the iPhone, and Red Remover is yet another satisfying title. Unlike other games, it introduces gravity-based mechanics in addition the usual problems of balance and momentum. Do we need another physics puzzle? Probably not, but, well...Red Remover is still pretty fun.
Each of the game's 80 levels features some combination of red, green, and blue shapes; in each instance, you must remove the red whilst preserving the green. (Shapes can be popped by tapping on them.) This usually requires some elementary planning and timing, but few levels are truly challenging. The only really inventive aspect is that each shape is affected by gravity differently—if its face is upside-down, it'll "fall" upward. Other than that, it's the usual mesh of rolling circles, balanced blocks, toppling towers, and the like.
The graphics in Red Remover are deliberately simple; similarly, the music is sparse and kinda creepy when combined with the childish drawings.
Overall, I found Red Remover to be fun, but not amazingly so. Without achievements or records of any kind, replay value is limited. Additionally, most of the 80 levels are annoyingly easy. I like my "puzzle" games to be, well, puzzling. Still, Red Remover is a solid title, and one that younger gamers will probably enjoy. The gravity mechanic is a nice touch. Red Remover is a simple game, but at least it's still a good one.
