Horizon Chase Review

Harking back to the racing games of the 1980s, Horizon Chase isn’t quite up there with its influences such as Out Run and Lotus Turbo Challenge, but it is pretty fun. Devoid of any in-app purchases, it also feels like one of the few recent racers to not expect anything more from your wallet than $2.99.

Racing is a simple matter of holding your finger to the accelerator and using another finger to turn left or right as needed. Corners are clearly sign posted with a map giving you a heads up on the track’s layout. Skill is everything here with last second wins often gained through perfect cornering right at the end.

Horizon Chase isn’t a simulation by any means, with you bouncing off any cars you clash with, but it does require more than just hitting the nitro button at the right moment. That’s what keeps it interesting as, otherwise, it’s a fairly simple game. Upgrades are relatively sparse and the visuals of each track are fairly rudimentary.

That focus on skills-based racing ensures that Horizon Chase maintains your attention, though. That sense of speed is something that few games have successfully achieved in recent times, but it’s done so enthusiastically here.
