Pokemon TCG Pocket reveals upcoming set this week that introduces Shiny Pokemon

Back when the Space-Time Smackdown set launched on Pokemon TCG Pocket, it was a bit of a letdown for me personally, for one very big reason. My favourite Pokemon, Lucario, was included, but he was a support. My dreams of Aura Sphere-ing through the competition were dead. Until this week that is, thanks to the upcoming Shining Revelry set.

As the name kind of suggests, this set features shiny Pokemon. Those are discoloured Pokemon that are rarer than the standard variant and are pretty much always uglier. I can only think of Shiny Sylveon as one that looks good. One of these Shiny Pokemon is a Lucario ex, and he is wonderful. We just need Mega Lucario and a Chandelure and Pocket will be perfect.

Sporting his Anubis-favourite colour scheme, this 150 HP Fighting-Type comes with one attack; Aura Sphere. This 3 energy attack deals 100 damage, which is nice, but it also hits a benched opponent for 30. So that’s me pretty chuffed. There is also a Shiny Charizard ex which could be a beast. For one energy they add 3 fire energy to themself, ramping up to their five energy attack, Steam Artillery, that deals a straight 150 damage.

In addition, this is the first set to introduce us to a few Paldea Pokemon, including Sprigatito, my Scarlet starter. For one energy, they pull one random grass Pokemon from your deck, which could be helpful for an aggro-grass deck. For a laugh, you could also pull a Tinkaton ex, who hammers your opponent for 80 damage for three energy. You also get to flip a coin for a possible extra 80. It's a Stage 2 Pokemon, though, so perhaps not.

Finally, some Trainer cards. The legendary Red is here to take on ex Pokemon, adding an extra 20 damage for one turn when you attack your opponent's ex. Iono lets you shuffle your hand into your deck, and then draw the same amount of cards. With the small deck sizes, I am very curious to see how many people will end up just drawing the exact same hand.

Pokemon TCG Pocket is available to download from the App Store and Google Play, with Shiny Revelry launching on March 27th.
