Give your deck a shiny facelift as Shining Revelry launches in Pokemon TCG Pocket

The newest set has been released in Pokemon TCG Pocket, and good news, there is only one pack to pull from again. Shining Revelry introduces shiny cards as well as Paldean Pokemon. I have nothing negative to say this time. Personal growth feels weird.

Of course, the biggest addition here is the inclusion of a Lucario ex that can Aura Sphere your foe's faces off. You can also pick up 71 other cards, but if you are anything like me, you’ll be mad when you get that shiny Charizard ex, because it took the place of what could have been a shiny Lucario ex!

On balance, I will also say there are other good cards in this set. Clodshire ex and Grafaiai can combine to make a pretty effective Poison deck, and the Team Rocket Grunt Trainer can really mess with your opponent's strategy. It’s a reverse Misty, removing energy from your opponent's Active Pokemon based on how many coin head flips you get in a row.

Fans of outdated meta decks can also pick up a shiny Mewtwo ex from the store. While you do also get an accompanying mat, deck sleeves, coin, and the trimmings, it’s not particularly worth it. It will set you back around $20.00, and to be fair, Shiny Mewtwo looks awful.

Speaking of meta decks, I hope you enjoy fighting the same two or three duels over and over because ranked matches have arrived. Players will duke it out over seasons to earn rank points, which will then confer emblems based on your rank when the season is over. You know how ranked battles work by now. 

If you engage with the Wonder Pick mechanic, you will notice that the animation has changed. Now, the cards you don’t choose will flip over first, before revealing the one you choose. It used to be the other way around, or in other words, it used to be better. This update doesn’t affect much in the bigger picture, but it just feels worse somehow.
