Claim your free ex-starter deck with Pokemon TCG Pocket

Since the Shining Revelry set launched in Pokemon TCG Pocket, I have thrown everything I have at it to draw countless packs. I walked away from this with a few full arts and the shiny Charizard ex, but crucially only ONE Lucario ex. My heart was broken, but Pocket has heard my cries and released the ex Starter Deck Missions.

Until April 26th, you can get your hands on a free, complete 20-card deck with an ex Pokemon. This includes a Pikachu ex deck where you need to discard all energy to attack and is, therefore, rubbish, a Clodsire ex if you want to Poison and then bludgeon people to death, and, of course, Lucario ex, the greatest of the decks.

To earn one of these, simply navigate to the ex Starter Deck mission page. There are quite a few, however, the main one is “Use pack stamina to open 5 booster packs”. That gets you the Deck Ticket you can exchange for whichever Lucario ex deck you desire. It isn’t just me pushing Lucario either - check out the roadmap.

Starting mid-April, the first of the vague times will be the Wonder Pick Event starring promo versions of Riolu and Pachirisu. Then, the Fighting-Type Mass Outbreak will commence in that mythical late April window, including Lucario ex. Finally - and it’s the first one but the subject didn’t fit this Lucario narrative I have woven - the Pawmot Drop Event will be coming in early April.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what Starter you pick or what deck you build. It matters how you play it, and your skills better be up to scratch as the Ranked Season has kicked off. You can work your way up the leagues, from Beginner Rank to Master Ball Rank. Seasons will change once a month, with emblems given out based on where you land, so you only have limited time to climb those ladders. Specifically, until April 26th first with the current one.
