We've all seen digital photo frames, right? They're kind of handy at times. How about an app that does exactly that, along with a few other convenient features? That's what Driftback offers, all for the inexpensive sum of $0.99.
Taking a matter of seconds to set up, you can use your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Foursquare, and camera roll to create a photo frame experience full of treasured memories. It's entirely up to you how much you choose to import. For instance, I chose not to bother with Instagram as I already share images through my Facebook and Twitter accounts. It's even possible to import calendar entries, demonstrating particular events in your life.
Once set up, the app scrolls through each image or piece of text automatically. You can adjust the time delay between each as well as opt to view things via a full screen interface. It's pleasantly done, with options to share content with others if you so desire.
Although keeping it simple has its mild issues, such as there being no way to omit certain entries or being able to adjust the timing appropriately depending on if the entry is an image or piece of text, but there's no denying that Driftback is a handy way of viewing your memories. At times, I found it had a preference for one particular photo (a rather 'pleasant' shot of a sporting injury of mine), but for the most part, Driftback worked pretty well.
While you could hook up your iOS device as a form of photo frame, I suspect Driftback's strength is in its ability to allow you to reminisce privately as and when you want to. It passes the time nicely in that respect, plus you can always hand your phone over to someone else if you want to share those memories. It's a much more satisfying way of browsing than having to do everything manually.
