The Corleone family takes over mobile gaming with the release of The Godfather: City Wars

Mafia movies are one of the genres of films that are ripe for turning into games because everyone wants to experience the thrill of being a mobster, and now PlaySide Studios have brought that feeling to mobile by releasing their new game, The Godfather: City Wars.
The Godfather franchise is one that needs no introduction even for those who don't regularly watch movies, with two of the three film entries often touted as some of the best films ever made. Surprisingly, the video game adaption back in the halcyon PS2 days was a rare example of a movie tie-in game not being terrible, so the excitement for this new entry is high. The Godfather: City Wars is an idle city builder and battler that places the player in the shoes of a mobster who joins the storied Corleone family and is handed the keys to the mob's dealings with Don Vito Corleone. They are tasked with expanding the businesses and taking over neighbourhoods to consolidate the Corleone family in New York and Las Vegas.
PlaySide Studios developed the game alongside Paramount Pictures and Paramount Consumer Products, weaving in an officially licensed Godfather story that runs alongside the original movie, featuring fan-favourite characters and recognisable locations.
When talking about working on the legendary franchise, PlaySide Studios CEO, Gerry Sakkas, said: “Adapting The Godfather to mobile devices was not something we took lightly, so our team set about researching the book and film in order to create something that felt authentic.”
“We wanted to put players in the handcrafted Italian shoes of a member of the Corleone family as they are called upon by Don Corleone himself to expand the family’s empire and take its turf wars to the next level.”
The Godfather: City Wars is available to download now from the App Store and Google Play.
