It is always nice to see the return of a series that has lost a bit of its global staying power, and thanks to Lilith Games' latest collaboration, Warpath will be playing host the the run-and-gun legend that is Metal Slug 3.

Released in the late 90s and set in the fat too near 2028, anyone else feeling old yet, the Metal Slug series followed the exploits of the Peregrine Falcons Special Forces Squad, led by technological wunderkind Marco Rossi. The team was soon bolstered by a partnership street kid-turned-spy Eri Kasamoto, who was the worst spy in existence thanks to her speciality of throwing bombs everywhere. Warpath players will be able to these two battle-hardened heroes during this collaboration, as well as take part in a special crossover event. Choose between Team Marco Rossi or Team Eri Kasamato, and complete a series of tasks to increase your team's power and be in with a shot of winning in-game rewards or cash prizes. You will need to register online to take part.

If you are struggling to pick between the two, here's how they shape up on the Warpath battlefield. Marco Rossi sets himself apart by being the more brutish of the two, being able to deal massive damage to a target enemy. He can also use his hacking skills to paralyze the opposition's offensive and defensive weapons, leaving them open for a blitzkrieg-style attack.

Eri Kasamoto, on the other hand, is more of a team player, with the troops she leads benefiting from increased combat effectiveness and can deal higher damage. She can also debuff her foes and reduce their hit rate and movement speed, some pretty devastating field control skills that if used correctly, can see you surround your enemies and leave them nowhere to run.

Finally, all players will have the opportunity to welcome Metal Slug 3’s super vehicle, the SV-001, into their army. Its base skin is modelled after the game's iconic first boss, that grumpiest and quite rotund of crustaceans, Huge Hermit.
