Released in Japan last year, Opera Omnia is the first installment of Dissidia Final Fantasy to end up on the mobile platform. As with the other Dissidia titles, it throws together the greatest characters from the world of Final Fantasy to fight alongside each other. Now, publisher Square Enix (Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts) and developer Team Ninja (Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive) has launched the game worldwide. Time to dust off your gunblades.

The themes of the story will ring a bell if you’ve played a Dissidia Final Fantasy title before. A multidimensional safe-haven, Opera Omnia is a world forged by two gods to give tired warriors respite. But whilst familiar Final Fantasy faces were kicking up their heels in paradise, monsters found a way in. To restore zen, a magic moogle needs to collect ‘light’, and can only do so with your help. Assemble a band of famous heroes and villains from the Final Fantasy universe, and go to war with the unwelcome arrivals.

Battle in Opera Omnia is turn-based, taking place across eclectic arenas – from verdant woodlands to gothic chambers. Bravery is a new addition to combat. Charge your Bravery gauge through successive special attacks, and unleash it at the right time to strike a devastating blow.

The game features a lot of JRPG elements, but also allows for a multiplayer experience. Invite your friends online and you can fight monsters through rifts in space and time – and win rewards while you’re at it.
If you’re desperate to swing a Buster Sword as Cloud Strife again, or you’re just a fan of JRPGs and turn-based battles, you’ll find something to enjoy in Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia. You can download it for free from Google Play and the App Store.
