Things go squeak in the night as Halloween comes to Pokemon Go

The spooky season is upon us and Pokemon Go is getting into the swing of things with Part one of its Halloween event. From October 22nd to October 28th you can get your hands on the ghoulish-featured Pokemon, a new Dynamax, and some boosted Shiny options.
Let's start with the spotlighted Pokemon for this event. It’s spooky, it begins with M, and it's related to Pikachu; that’s right it’s Morpeko. In spite of the community clamouring for Mimikyu, we have another rat, but with an interesting twist. Morpeko is the first Pokemon in the game who can change form mid-battle. Starting in Full Belly Mode, you will be able to use their Charged Attack, Aura Wheel, as its standard electric type move. However, when you use this attack, Morpeko will transform into Hangry Mode, and Aura Wheel will become a Dark attack. The forms will change for each Charged Attack you use, opening up some new battle strategies to try out.

Now for the caveat; this change mechanic is only available in Trainer and Team Go Rocket battles for now. Still, if you’d like to try it out you can grab Morpeko as part of a free Field Research, starring Spirtomb, or in the Battle League Pokemon encounter pool. After the event, Morpeko will still be available in the BLG encounter pool but only at Rank 16 plus, so if you want to get your hands on them, it's worth grinding now when it's less restricted.
Keeping on the spooky train, you will also be able to catch Dynamax Gastly in Powerspots, and you will have a boosted chance to get a shiny Umbreon during raids. Zorua will also be popping up in the wild with an increased shiny rate, so you can get that spooky theme team going.
Pokemon Go is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
