Cinq-Mars Media has released its word puzzle game Anagraphs for iOS and Android devices. The game released last week after a short delay in getting it onto the appropriate platforms.

Anagraphs is a word puzzle game where you search for anagrams within a set of letters. It sounds simple enough, you make the word ‘cat’ out of ‘act’, and so on. However, there’s a slight twist to it too. Each letter uses a special font that makes them vertically symmetrical, and you can rotate it to create new letters. This makes for so many new ways to find anagrams from the letters you’re given. For example, the word ‘ma’ would normally only give you ‘am’ as an anagram, but with the system present in Anagraphs allowing you to rotate letters that can now let you change the M into a W, resulting in the word ‘aw’ appearing from ‘ma’.

Check out the trailer above to see how the game plays. Because of the new way to form letters together, this gives you many opportunities to create words in ways you hadn’t considered before. Overall the amount of words you can create is now vastly increased, and you will be able to discover many new combinations.

Cinq-Mars Media has previously released games such as Lazy Chess, The Devil’s Calculator and Synonymy. Anagraphs is intended as a spiritual successor to the latter, where it has you uncovering all possibilities to collect stars which are used to reach new stages of the game.

If you're after a new puzzle game and have the brain to solve increasingly complex word problems, this might be the game for you. You can download Anagraphs now from the iOS App Store and the Google Play for Android store, where it is a free to play title containing adverts and in-app purchases.
