Niantic unveils details of Monster Hunter Now Season 3 and it contains a new weapon

The milder weather is rolling in and that hellish heat is finally starting to subside which can only mean one thing; the autumn update for Monster Hunter Now! On September 12th, season 3 will arrive. Entitled Curse of the Wandering Flames, it is packing an abundance of content.
Let’s kick off with a Monster Hunter series staple that has been sorely missing in Now; cooking. In the main series, cooking is a good way to recover stamina or give yourself a much-needed stat boost in battle, and in Now you will get effects unique to this game as you cook. This will be vital to get to grips with, as September will introduce three new large monsters to tackle. Magnamalo, Rajang, and Aknosom will pop up once you clear the urgent quests in the Season 3 story quest. Luckily, we are getting a new weapon to help vanquish these fiends.

The Heavy Bowgun will make its debut with three types of ammo to pick from, allowing you to deal big damage from a distance. Depending on the weapon, you will have one of two special skills. Wyvernheart Ammo rapidly fires Wyvernheart shots while Wyvernsnipe Ammo deals one almightly blast of doom. When wielding the Heavy Bowgun and not moving or firing you will also automatically guard with a shield, which is a nice bonus.
More additions to your arsenal come with the release of some new skills to master, including Hellfire Cloak, which historically reduces damage taken by and increases damage dealt with Hellfire. You can also collect more hunter medals, and gain an additional 250 slots with the Items Box Expansion.
Some unfortunate news is that when Season 3 kicks off, certain monsters will stop appearing. This includes the Black Diablos, Odogaron, and Khezu. You will need to unlock them again by completing urgent quests, just bear this in mind if you need their materials before launch.
Monster Hunter Now is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
