Quite reminiscent of recently released, An Alien With A Magnet, Little Galaxy is an enjoyably simple one-touch leaping game.
Players control a scientist with a dream, although it's tough to see any real story development here. Instead, Little Galaxy is solely about completing challenges in order to move onto the next stage. Admittedly, a dose of personality would have gone a long way in encouraging one to persevere. Still, the challenges keep one enticed.
Each stage comprises of leaping between planets and moons, collecting stars and avoiding getting pulled into the trajectory of the sun. Nothing is complicated here; with progressing simply a matter of tapping at the correct moment in order to move to the next location. That doesn't stop Little Galaxy being quite challenging at times, though. More than once, my impatience to progress caused me to mess up and have to start again.
Challenge also stems from the objectives that must be completed in order to progress. Frequently, these are connected to gaining particular high scores or completing a chain of quick leaps. It's a slightly unusual mixture of objective focused gameplay and Endless style habits, given that potentially one could keep playing the level for as long as they want, simply bypassing the objectives that guide them to the next stage.
The one-touch gameplay endears one to keeping Little Galaxy on their iOS device for a while to come, but admittedly an hour or so with it shows one everything it has to offer. There might be extra things to take into account such as comets that boost time, or plasma that offers extra points but cuts back time, but it's still essentially the same game.
I can't see Little Galaxy being the kind of game to spend hours on end with but as a simple distraction for five minutes every now and then, it's worth keeping around on one's iOS device.
