GERMS. Eek! They are everywhere, including on your mobile gaming device! Use the human body's immune system to battle colorful and dangerous-looking viruses and bacteria in various organ systems in Immuno, the brain child of Outbreak Entertainment.
Immuno is a fast-paced game that takes place in different organs throughout the body. You can unlock 5 organs with 10 levels in each new microbiotic world while encountering new viruses and bacteria as you gain points and pass levels. Flick and drag your finger from the bottom of the screen to shoot anti-bodies at the germs. Make sure the color of the anti-body matches the color of the targeted germ, otherwise the anti-body turns into an enemy! Tap the bottom of the screen to change colors, but be careful because those viruses and bacteria move fast. Want more germ demolishing? Try the Endless Challenge Mode. In this mode, the longer you stay alive the faster and more difficult the play becomes.
Overall, Immuno is a fun play and I would love to take a turn at those icky germs in HD on an iPad. It is oddly satisfying to watch the germs get completely destroyed on the iPod Touch, so I am sure the big screen would make it all the more exciting. However, Immuno does get a little too difficult too quickly. The learning curve unexpectedly goes from a steady climb to a sheer cliff, which can be more of a frustration than a challenge, especially on the small screen. Initially there are very few technique and graphic changes in game play and unlocking different characters and progressing can sometimes feel completely out of reach. The player can persevere, but it can periodically feel as if the rewards are not worth the difficulty.
The artistry is impeccable and the concept is fun, making Immuno an acceptable game for all ages. Blast those body-invaders and post on OpenFeint or play locally. Either way there are hours of germ crushing mayhem to be had with Immuno.
