A while back, Goatgames announced their upcoming competitive card game Punch Out: CCG Duel. Fans of video game history or fighting might remember a series called Mike Tyson's Punch Out. Goatgames evidently only recently heard of this franchise and as such has changed the name. Unfortunately, it is now named Fist Out: CCG Duel.

Given that the slated release date is tomorrow - April 9th for you archive raiders - this feels like a let’s change as little as possible kind of reaction. This makes sense, given all the marketing already done; it's easier to change just one word. But Fist Out? I am terrible at naming things, and even I think that needed to cook a bit more.

Questionable name-changing aside, Fist Out looks like an interesting one to watch. It is set on the continent of Aetheris, proof the developers can actually make decent names when they try, various factions are at war to claim control of primal magic. Each card is steeped in the lore of the world, making collecting them a treat for strategy and for interesting reading.

Speaking of the cards, there are over 300 to collect from across seven races. You can recruit allies with the likes of Inferno, Roughrock Weald, and Frozen Necropolis, each with their own special abilities to master. After you pick your deck, you can customise it with equipment and skill options, mixing gear sets to trigger powerful combos. Then, head into PvP duels, cooperative raids, or roguelike dungeons, however, you feel like playing.

If you are a card game fan, then you are certainly being well-fed in the mobile arena lately. This looks like a genuinely interesting game, Pokemon TCG Pocket are starting to buck its ideas up, and Digimon Alysion has been announced. We haven’t much news on the latter, but I will forever blow the horn on any Digimon product. The point is, that we are having a fun card-based time lately.

Fist Out: CCG Duel is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
