Each month, I want to share some less formal thoughts about the games I've been playing and my impressions of them. These might be game's that got reviewed for the site or not. As an individual person covering a storefront that is shoveling titles onto its store each day, I have time to dip my toes into a lot of it, but I can't always spend the time needed for a review. With recaps like this, I can give some games their due, even if I can't get a full review of them. I can also add additional thoughts to things I did decide to write about or even honor older games I just decided to back to for some reason or another. See below for what I played this past month.

EvoCreo 2: Monster Trainer RPG ($ 4.99)

I think I need to come to terms with the fact that I am just not a Pokémon person. As much as I like the idea of a monster collecting rpg, it seems like any spin on the formula just doesn't really do much for me. This is to say that EvoCreo 2 seems like a perfectly fine one of those games (and Pocket Gamer is quite pleased with it!), but it never really pulled me in.   Click here to read our EvoCreo 2: Monster Trainer RPG review on Pocket Gamer

Songs of Conquest Mobile ($ 11.99)

Even after posting my review, I continue coming back to Songs of Conquest Mobile. It is certainly a janky experience on mobile, but there's some magic in it that a lot of other strategy games just don't have. It's a hard game to recommend--especially since bug fixes do not seem like they are coming quickly--but I sure do like it.   Click here to read our Songs of Conquest Mobile review

RESIDENT EVIL 3 (Free)

I'm working my way through Capcom's latest mobile Resident Evil release and I'm enjoying myself. The most notable thing about it right now is that it seems like the most optimized and stable one of these releases they've had. I'm just about four hours in and have had no crashing, audio bugs, or even performance stuttering.   Click here to read more about RESIDENT EVIL 3 on Pocket Gamer

Claws and Chaos (Free)

I have not kept up with Claws and Chaos much since reviewing it, but I have kept it on my phone and dipped in every once in a while for matches, and it's still a great auto-battler. I also love that it doesn't lock away any of its units behind in-app purchases, which keep it from feeling like an auto-battler with a subscription payment tied to it.   Click here to read our Claws and Chaos review

I Am Your Beast (Free)

This game is easily the best thing I've played lately, and makes me think I should go back and give El Paso, Elsewhere another shot. It might not exactly scratch the same itch since I Am Your Beast is all about speed and ruthless violence, but the way everything in the game coalesces around its specific kind of action instills a level of faith that the people behind these games really know what they are doing.   Click here to read our I Am Your Beast review

Expelled! ($5.99)

There has been a patch released for Expelled! that hints at fixing what I would call massive and inexcusable issues for a choose-your-own-adventure game to have, but the patch notes are vague enough and my negative first impressions are still fresh enough that I don't really want to open this game back up again. It's a shame, too, because it's a really neat idea and has a ton of promise.   Click here to read about our delayed coverage of Expelled!
