There are some excellent turn-based strategy games on mobile like Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions and The Banner Saga, both of which offer epic stories and deep gameplay mechanics guaranteed to keep you busy for hours.
They're a bit pricey though so, if you're stuck on a budget, you might want to check out Nexon's Fantasy War Tactics instead. Colorful warriors
Unlike most turn-based strategy games, Fantasy War Tactics doesn't take itself too seriously. Its story, about a warlord who aspires to take over the world and perseveres even though it's already been conquered, is meant to be humorous , and its character designs are intentionally goofy.
"Goofy" doesn't translate to "unappealing" though. The hyper-anime cast has some winners amongst it, like a sentient black cat which dons heavy armor.
Your turnFantasy War Tactics' gameplay should feel familiar to genre enthusiasts. Both your team and your foes take turns, moving within striking range to deliver pain unto one another. You can employ skills that hit harder, as well as take advantage of terrain bonuses to deliver more damage (and receive less).
Depending on the position of your allies, they may work together to deliver a particularly devastating blow. For example, if two of your allies are particularly good friends, they can do serious damage to an enemy while working together.
Fantasy War Tactics' battles are brisk and engaging, which is good, but it makes you all the more aware of the game's stamina counter, which depletes quite rapidly. Nexon is pretty good about handing out premium freebies, however, so stamina refills aren't hard to come by.
Fantasy War Tactics isn't on the same level as Final Fantasy Tactics, but it's not a low-tier offering, either. If you're into strategy games, give it a go.
