Documents To Go Hits Version 4.0

Lets take a second to be honest with ourselves for a moment. As outstanding as the iPhone and iPod are as devices, they lack certain functionality that would prove to be useful to business men and women. For one, the ability to create and edit Microsoft Office formatted documents would be great, but why would Apple develop an application like that when they have the competing iWork suite? Filling that void in the market since the PalmOS era has been the Documents To Go software.

Now available on nearly every mobile platform known to man, DataViz just announced that the iOS version of the popular app just reached the landmark 4.0 version update. Here are a couple of the more notable additions to the product:

This simplified UI along with a high resolution retina display progresses Documents To Go into fully functional mobile office suite. Full Keyboard Support Users can take full advantage of an external keyboard with highly requested support added for arrow keys. If I remember correctly, the last version of their user interface wasn't necessarily bad, it just left something to be desired in the streamlining department. It will be great to see what there were able to do with all of the extra resolution that the retina display provides. Also, it doesn't hurt that the DataViz team has their ear to the ground, listening for community feedback as to what areas needed work and where to go in the future. The update to version 4.0 will be available for free to anyone who purchased the 3.0 version of the software. There is no word on the status of those who hadn't made the jump to 3.0, but I would assume you will need to purchase the new product. Beefy updates like this further reinforce why Documents to Go was named an Editor's Choice here at 148Apps and one of the nominees for the 2009 Best App Ever Awards. Lets hope it can live up to the stellar pedigree of its predecessors.
