It's possible to be a relaxing game while also being pretty tough at times. Digits is one of those games. For free, it offers a rather impressive 100 levels, which should ensure it's a puzzle hit for a while to come.
Each level of Digits displays a series of numbered tiles. The player has to clear the board by decreasing all of the numbers to zero. A number is decreased once by tapping on it, but it also takes out the numbers around it. Numbers that are separated from the rest can't go down any further so it's a careful balancing process of keeping numbers in order and cleared at the right time.
It takes a couple of sessions to truly click, which is why the early stages are such handy introductions. Once it clicks though, it's a pretty enjoyable and cerebral experience. Soon enough, levels are quite tricky but satisfying to complete. There's no timer here so one can take as much time as they need, which ensures Digits is a consistently calming experience.
As is often the way with such titles, practice ensures that certain strategies shine through. I found focusing on the larger numbers first pays off in order to try to get all the numbers to mostly match up. There's a surprising amount of flexibility offered too, when it comes to taking out the numbers around the one tapped. Crucially, Digits is always quite fun. It's the kind of game to dip into throughout the day, but I also found it enjoyable while relaxing in the evenings, keeping my gray matter ticking.
Once one clears the first 100 levels, there's another 500 that can be added on via in-app purchases, so it's safe to say that Digits is full of content. Entertainingly cerebral, Digits is sure to tantalize those who prefer to take their time figuring things out, rather than be forced to rush via a time limit.
