The self proclaimed remix of the original .Decluster, .Decluster Zero: Bullet Nocturne is the ramped up version - the version that newcomers should certainly be checking out. It’s one of the best bullet hell shooters out there at the moment and well worth the asking price.
A lot of .Decluster Zero: Bullet Nocturne’s success comes down to its well orchestrated design tweaks. It looks stunning and sounds impressive, but it’s the game’s bevy of subtle changes that ensure you’ll be gripped.
For one thing, you’re equipped with a ship that’s fully powered up from the start. That not only gives you a misguided sense of superiority and power, but it means that things are tough right from the start. There’s the usual need to dodge and swerve your way around bullets, creating gaps and opportunities that look impossible to make.
You’re helped by a varied selection of weaponry with a double tap switching up what weapon you use. The main delight here is the homing laser. Besides providing a homing attack, it also allows you to slow bullets down around you by holding a finger down, and can be used to raise your multiplier.
You can charge up the weaponry too, both by shooting at everything that moves, as well as by doing absolutely nothing. The payoff between whether to fight or wait it out is a regular thing to consider as you work your way through the game.
That’s the beauty behind .Decluster Zero: Bullet Nocturne. There’s so much going on when it comes to learning when to use your homing laser, when to activate charge mode, and so forth. A written tutorial makes things sound a little confusing but practice makes perfect here, with .Decluster Zero: Bullet Nocturne offering a varied selection of difficulty modes that really do make a difference. It’s a real delight.
