Earlier this week, I reported that DC: Dark Legion had exceeded three million downloads. Apparently, everyone got together and decided to make me wrong, as it has now been revealed that it has exceeded five million. This is a game that debuted last month, and it has already racked up that many.

Of course, it is no surprise. Actually, it might be surprising that it's only five million. Despite DC not being as good as Marvel, an irrefutable fact, it still has a good few flagship series to pull in fans, with the likes of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman being fan favourites. I prefer Nightwing myself.

Since its launch, as well as picking up a huge number of downloads, Dark Legion has also been pretty well received. It sat at number one in free-to-play strategy games in over 40 countries, and has performed very well on storefronts. It currently has 4.8 stars on the App Store and 4.5 on Google Play, numbers any developer would be happy to receive.

A lot of this popularity is no doubt the source material, but Dark Legion itself is packing some talent in the writing department. Christos Gage and Amanda Dibert penned the game's original story, and between them, they have written comics for Marvel, DC, Disney, and Dark Horse. Gage also wrote for the Daredevil TV show and Spider-Man 1 and 2, before being lured to DC.

Aside from a solid story, DC: Dark Legion also has its share of events. The Titans Egg Hunt is currently available until April 27th. This places you in the shoes, talons, hooves, and so on of Beast Boy, as he seeks to pull the world out of an infinite time loop. Complete this, and you’ll earn resources, a Magic Eye, a Lounge Skin, and World Anvil Fragments.

DC: Dark Legion is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
