Crunchyroll expands its library with hit games Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth and Corpse Party

With, amongst others, the recent release of SD Gundam G Generation Eternal and Solo Levelling: Arise is celebrating its first birthday, and mobile anime fans have been having a good time lately. However, this was all just a precursor, it seems, as Crunchyroll is adding a host of titles to its vault for Ani-may, including one very exciting standout.

We shall jump straight to the headline for one very simple reason: the Norse of it all. Crunchyroll has acquired Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, the enhanced port of the smash hit PlayStation game. It follows the titular protagonist Lenneth as she journeys the land on Odin's command to recruit warriors to fight the Vanir and try to stall the coming of Ragnarok.

We now switch from the hallowed halls of Valhalla to the honourable Shinsengumi samurai, as visual novel The Amazing Shinsengumi: Heroes in Love has also entered the vault. Here you take the role of a young maiden as you find your swordsman soulmate, experience age-old Japan, and try to avoid falling victim to an act of Tsujigiri.

That's all for right now, but what about the future? Crunchyroll has us covered there, too, with five more properties incoming. Sticking with the samurai theme, Shogun Showdown is a turn-based roguelike which supports controllers, so you can’t blame the touchscreen when you die for the hundredth time. For another visual novel, Grisaia Phantom Trigger Vol. 1 forgoes the branching paths, but lumps a spy feel with covert missions and espionage. Also, many guns.

Going even further into the darker realms of gaming, White Day is a survival horror set in a high school with multiple endings, and full of puzzles and terrifying spirits. It has nothing on Corpse Party, though, the legendary horror game which takes the same setting the sets everything to 11. It has been incredibly well received, and for good reason. Finally, to calm us down a bit, Shin Chan: Shiro and the Coal Town is the cute and charmingly drawn adventure of a child, his dog, and their explorations across two worlds.

To enjoy everything the Crunchroll Vault has to offer, you need a subscription, with the Mega Fan tier costing $11.99 a month. For this, you get all the games, as well as more anime series than you can ever watch in a lifetime.
