Tapping into the idea that like-minded people might be living near you, Cliick has some potential as a kind of social networking/meet up app. Like so many other social networking apps though, it’s heavily dependent on how many people are using it. It’s a little quiet on the ground for now.
You sign up via your Facebook account. Cliick then figures out what kind of stuff you’d be interested in by analysing your profile. Content is divided up into sections, such as lifestyle and sport, with a swipe guiding you through the different stories available.
Alongside headlines and stories, you can comment on them, exchanging views with others near you. At least that’s the theory. In reality, it’s pretty quiet there and the distance gauge is off. It suggested that someone in Germany was 22 miles away from me, while at the same time someone in Illinois was 29 miles away.
Once the community takes off I can see Cliick being more useful. You can private message people, as well as view their comments, so I can see this being a good ice breaker app. It needs more activity to prove that, though.
