The best new games we played this week - October 10

Another week has come and gone in this hectic, hectic life, and that means it's time to look back on another excellent few days of new mobile games. This week we were treated to fresh new adventures, and some familiar faces as well. Without further ado, here are our favorite new games of the past seven days.  South Park: Phone Destroyer 

We've been waiting on South Park: Phone Destroyer since it was announced at E3 this past summer, and now it's finally here. It's a collectible card game featuring your favorite South Park characters, who'll you'll be pitting against each other in classic combat in games like "astronauts vs aliens" and more. It's a bit like Clash Royale, but with more fart jokes.

Cally's Caves 4

If you're into action adventure games like Mega Man or Ratchet and Clank, you'll probably enjoy Cally's Caves. It's an old-school adventure full of weapons to collect, nooks and crannies to explore, and challenging combat.

Starman: Tale of Light 

This dreamy, ethereal puzzler looks stunning with its minimalist black and white artwork, but the game's puzzles are also masterfully crafted, making Starman: Tale of Light a standout among similar stylish games that have become so popular lately. Guide a little astronaut through levels full of environmental puzzles to collect lights, which you'll need to further the game's touching story. 

Read the Pocket Gamer review. Catan Stories The latest iteration of the Catan universe on mobile is actually a visual novel of sorts, surprisingly enough. Asmodee Digital is trying some creative new things in continuing their push for more board game experiences on mobile. Excellent dialogue, and a well-written story full of twists and turns makes Catan Stories a worthy addition to your game collection, especially if you're looking for something that's a bit different.

Foolball Foolball is an intensely silly, ultra-violent sports game set in a medieval court, in which the game's two competitors must toss a ball back and forth. There's one caveat though -- that ball is actually the court jester. The game adds in obstacles and other difficulties to amp up the challenge, and its full of good (albeit dark) humor throughout. Being a fool is a thankless job.
