Calculator

Ably demonstrating how less can be more, Konvert, is a minimalistic-looking yet quite powerful unit calculator for a variety of different measurements. A couple of minor features are missed, but otherwise it's going to be a real time saver for those who need to convert often.

The sheer number of different measurements available within Konvert is quite impressive. 15 different forms of area calculation are available before even taking a look at angle, base, data, energy, length, mass, power, pressure, speed, temperature, and time. In all, there are 86 different options to use. It's tricky to think of one measurement that isn't included here, Konvert is that comprehensive.

Switching between such measurements is pretty simple. Users simply swipe between the choices. Some might prefer tapping once to move through them, but swiping still works pretty well. Tapping is at least used to switch between which method is placed at the top of the conversion. Throughout, such conversions are seamless too, even when switching between different results.

Some other minor niggles do emerge in the conversion process. For instance, there's no way to copy and paste answers elsewhere - which is a fairly significant limitation for those planning to reuse the information elsewhere on their iOS device. There's no one-tap solution to erasing a number either, with individual taps required to delete figures.

How much these niggles will irritate comes down to how one plans to use Konvert. As a calculator to sit aside a PC/Mac or in the middle of a work project, it'll work great. As something used in conjunction with other iOS apps, such limitations will annoy after a time. An attractive and inexpensive solution, however, ensures that Konvert remains a quite attractive proposition. Just one that isn't perfect.
