Build It! Miami Beach Resort Review

In a similar vein to the Build-a-Lot series of games, Build It! Miami Beach Resort is all about developing a property based empire by completing a set of objectives. It's more Time Management based than most, and can turn a little predictable, but I still enjoyed my time with it.

Players start out in the early 1920s with an area of land that's perfect for developing into a fantastic beach resort. Each level (or year, as the game calls them) requires completing a set of objectives, within a time limit, in order to progress. Such objectives are quite varied. One might require building a new hotel, while another might involve painting an existing home to appeal to new visitors. More complex scenarios arise too, such as the need to place a bar within a set distance of a hotel, while keeping clear of a cinema. Throughout, there's a keen balancing act to drawing in visitors with plenty of different lodgings, while also ensuring that leisure and recreational facilities are attractive.

Unlike other games of this ilk, players maintain the same area of land throughout the entire game. As each decade passes, the area grows in size allowing for new developments to be built. It's a nice touch as there's a real sense of progress and growth going on, rather than the potential disjointedness of starting from scratch after each year.

With only one worker doing all the work in Build It! Miami Beach Resort, queueing up actions is vital to success, making the experience much more like a Time Management game than most. Fortunately, things never turn quite as hectic as that suggests, ensuring that Build It! Miami Beach Resort is consistently entertaining.

At times, it might turn a little repetitive given players are often completing similar tasks, but it still manages to while away the hours quite nicely.
