Beach Buggy Blitz Review

Put the pedal to the medal and tilt to victory. Beach Buggy Blitz is an absolute triumph in iOS racing and will keep players glued to the screen longer than any bus or train journey they're set to have over the next few weeks.

The objective here is to traverse the beach as far as possible, avoiding obstacles and other racers in order to rack up the best possible time. Along the beach, players will encounter crabs and lava monsters, while swerving around shacks and investigating secret caves. The wonderful thing about Beach Buggy Blitz is that there are shortcuts, setting up unique routes and ways to victory. Players will also be able to collect coins which can then be used to spend on car developments

Players will also be able to use upgrades and powerups, such as power boosts, in order to help improve their time. They'll even be able to purchase new vehicles with unique properties with greater acceleration and handling potential.

The environment changes every time its played. The routes are never mapped out in quite the same way, regardless of being set on the same beach. This makes it difficult to produce strategies or pre-empt corners. A lot of the gameplay has to happen on the fly, making the experience much more dynamic than other racers.

The game is controlled in one of two ways. The buggy will automatically accelerate once the checkered flag is raised, but players will have to tilt the iPhone from left to right to navigate the course. This is very responsive and works well, although probably won't make a player look too cool for school during their commute. Fortunately, the game offers an alternative option. Players can tap at either side of the screen to move left or right. There are also brake pedals at the bottom of the screen to help with taking corners or avoiding collisions.

Beach Buggy Blitz is a beautiful title. Not only are the physics realistic and perfectly suited, the environment reacts to every movement, crabs scuttling out of the way, waves brushing against the silty sands, volcanoes spouting out lava. This is a very active, mystical island that never fails to enchant. Unfortunately, the game will not run on iOS models 3GS or under, and so should be considered among the top tier.

Beach Buggy Blitz is fantastic and one of the best of its kind on iOS. An absolute pleasure to play and play again.
