Tap Quest: Gate Keeperis more fun than it has any right to be. It’s a game all about tapping fairly frantically but there’s more to it than most. It’ll soon get under your skin.

Your mission is to defend the tower placed in the middle of the screen. You have to do this by moving left or right to attack the enemies coming your way. If they hang around in the hot spot for too long, it’s game over. The key is to keep leaping left and right to hold forces off equally but a lot of it really comes down to attrition. After 9 waves, you come up against a boss which is where things get tricky.

Fortunately, you can upgrade a lot within Tap Quest: Gate Keeper. Coins come at a steady pace and you can use them to buy new equipment, level up, or recruit followers to help you out. It’s this constant sense of progression that ensures that Tap Quest: Gate Keeper is always appealing.

Being the kind of game that you can easily dip into while still achieving something in a short space of time ensures that Tap Quest: Gate Keeper is likely to stick around on your iPhone for a while to come. It’s simple but beguiling.
