Description

A one-of-a-kind app featuring exquisitely filmed mini-
documentaries of 25 of the world’s greatest chess sets––including the Russian masterpiece made by Faberge, said to be the world’s most valuable set. Also included are sets by Dadaist artist Man Ray; the Salvador Dali “Fingers” set; an amber set believed to have been fashioned in the workshop of Catherine the Great; a Murano glass set; a Meissen porcelain set; a complete set from the 16th Century, and many more. Discussing the art value and political history of the sets are Susan Polgar, the world’s first female Grandmaster; Sarah Coffin, Curator of the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum; Graham Beal, Director of the Detroit Institute of Arts; and the collectors themselves, Dr. George and Vivian Dean.

give it a chance

At first I thought "what's the point?" but after giving it a shot I fell for the stunning visuals. All while learning something new. You can't put a price on education. Give it a shot. See if you like it.

A piece of art

There are as many as 25 chess sets, and they are all presented beautifully with a stunning visual effect. It is a piece of art. quite impressive. And the sets were very well chosen and worth studying. I recommend it to every chess player. Just be aware of its huge size.

Great

Great app with videos about the history of quite a few different chess sets. It's quite interesting, and the sets shown are very beautiful. Good job on this app, would never think to create something like this.
