Description

Are you constantly changing the keyboard layout (known as Input Source in System Preferences) as you switch between applications? That can be really annoying and slowing you down. Keyboard Pilot can help you focus on the actual tasks instead by doing the switching for you.

A common example is the non-English developer, having to use uncomfortable, complex and tiring key combinations for common symbols like [ ] { } in development tools.

Keyboard Pilot can increase your productivity by:

• Making it much easier to enter the typical programming symbols.

• Making key shortcuts in applications such as developer tools or photo/video editors work as intended. Many of them are now assuming an English keyboard layout.

Keyboard Pilot makes this completely transparent by changing layouts automatically as you switch between applications. After setting up the pilot, you will never have to think about the layout again.

Put your keyboard on autopilot!

Works perfectly

This app works perfectly, exactly as advertised.

I use three keyboard layouts: Dvorak, which I use all the time for typing (actually I use the "Dvorak with Qwerty when command is pressed"); Standard US Qwerty layout, which I use for Pixelmator, Blender, Scribus, et. al. so I can use their keyboard shortcuts as designed; and Russian layout, which I use in the Russian flashcards program I have which I'm using to improve my Russian vocabulary. Keyboard pilot easily switches between the different keyboard layouts I use, exactly as advertised, so I don't have to think about switching layouts anymore at all. Worth the three dollars, which is the price of a small snack.

One thing I'll note is that I thought the "fn" keys setting wasn't working, because when I tried to use F11 et. al. in Blender, I got Mission Control instead. I had to disable the settings under Mission Control in System Preferences (which I never use anyways) and then it worked perfectly. (The F-key setting WAS working, I just had a system-wide setting for the STANDARD F-keys 9-12, in addition to the special settings for these which change volume settings.)

Great for using function keys with pro apps

Using Motion or Cinema 4D just got a whole lot easier for me. Now I don't have to sacrifice my volume button or screen brightness keys for function keys. Keyboard Pilot supports intelligent switching based on app context. When I'm in Motion or C4D, the function keys are function keys. When I'm anywhere else, F1 and F2 adjust screen brightness. Just what I was looking for!
