Return to China’s most exciting story with Otherworld Three Kingdoms: Idle RPG

Posted by Shaun Walton on July 2nd, 2024

If you have ever played Dynasty Warriors, you will know that the gameplay is pretty run-of-the-mill, but what makes them so enticing is the era in which it is set. It's a very interesting time in China’s history, and we can experience the lore all over again thanks to the release of Otherworld Three Kingdoms: Idle RPG.

The story follows Ayoung Cho, a massive fan of the Three Kingdoms story, as I am sure we all are. Suddenly, she finds herself thrust into the story in a way she never imagined. Arriving towards the end of the Han Dynasty, the Yellow Turban army is causing unrest, and Cho is about to have a fateful encounter of her own.

Identity V revives its silliest collaboration as new Sanrio costumes drop

Posted by Shaun Walton on July 1st, 2024

It turns out that the world's most unbelievable collaboration was so ridiculous, that Identity V is doing it twice. The cute and fluffy cutters of the Sanrio universe will be making their way back to the dark, dangerous world of NetEases’ 1v4 asymmetrical game, and just what are they thinking?

This second wave of Sanrio characters comes under the event dubbed Kuromi's Spaceship Program, so you can assume who one of them is. At least Kuromi somewhat suits the world of Identity V with their impish hat, however, you can also recruit My Melody, who absolutely does not.

Blue Archive heads for nature in New Year event

Posted by Shaun Walton on June 27th, 2024

Continuing the Blue Archive trend of releasing seasonal events to the Western version of the game nowhere near when they actually happened, the Cyber New Year March update has arrived. It brings with it a story centring around New Year, which it slightly missed by a few months, and two new recruits for your squad.

Our story this time revolves around the Veritas students, the famously lazy lot. The Millennium Science School hacker club are in for a rude awakening, however, as Vice President Chihiro decides it's time for a road trip. The club will trade computers for camping equipment on a quest to witness the New Year’s sunrise.

Once Human conquers maths to be one hotly anticipated launch ahead of its July 9th date

Posted by Shaun Walton on June 26th, 2024

It feels like Once Human has been in development for about ten years at this point, but that has clearly not blunted the excitement for NetEases’ upcoming open-world survival game. As a matter of fact, it seems things have never been better, as its appearance at the latest Steam Next Fest shows.

With the official release date of July 9th finally upon us, the anticipation appears to be at a fever pitch. Within just two hours of the demo going live, Once Human rocketed up to the 8th most-watched game on Twitch. Bearing in mind that’s every single game, with the Elden DLC also having just been released, that’s an impressive feat.

Watcher of Realms celebrates its first anniversary with some very generous events

Posted by Shaun Walton on June 25th, 2024

It has been one year since Moonton Games kicked off the fantasy RPG Watcher of Realms, and there are a lot of celebrations to mark the occasion. You could take part in a brand-new mode, earn some skins, and recruit some of the strongest characters in the game with minimal effort.

Starting off big, we have a new guild boss to contend with in the form of Semrah, who apparently will offer a unique challenge with unusual gameplay opportunities. If you are looking for something completely different, however, then you could tackle the Eternal Spire. Be quick though, as it is only around for a limited time.

Tarisland finally launches and celebrates with some massive giveaways

Posted by Shaun Walton on June 24th, 2024

It has felt like a lifetime, as it always does when it comes to waiting, but now Level Infinites’ anticipated MMORPG Tarisland is available across mobiles and Windows. It is time to pick your favourite of the nine classes, customise them to your heart's content, and then enjoy an epic new journey.

Tarisland will kick off with Season 0: Mystery of the Hollows and will debut a fair bit of content right off the bat. There are five, five-player dungeons to contend with, eight ten-player raid bosses, PvP arenas for when you get sick of those co-op dungeons, and a plethora of open-world activities.

Reverse: 1999 offer Reality teams a mouth-watering new addition in Phase 2 of Version 1.6

Posted by Shaun Walton on June 21st, 2024

Bluepoch Games has confirmed that Phase 2 of Reverse:1999s Version 1.6 has launched, and brings with it a lot to get your teeth into. Along with some sign-in rewards and a bunch of stories to enjoy, as well as a new 6-star character who just might be one to watch.

Getain is a nice mix of damage and debuff and fits perfectly into a Reality team. His first Arcane Skill deals single target Reality DMG and inflicts the Shape of Bone debuff that decreases the target Reality DEF by 15%. The target will also deal an additional 30% damage based on caster ATK, a perfect skill to soften them up for your heavy Reality hitters.

Uncharted Waters Origin unveils its latest batch of recruits

Posted by Shaun Walton on June 20th, 2024

LINE Games, Motif, and KOEI Tecmo have announced the latest raft of updates for their seafaring adventure title Uncharted Waters Origin, and if you've played for a while you know what to expect. A new Admiral, new mates, and some new story, the old tried and tested.

If you are a fan of the Dynasty Warriors series you might recognise the name, as our new S Grade Admiral is Zheng He. This Ming official is more geared towards the world of combat, with buffs to Additional Artillery Attack and Ramming. He also increases the chance for injured Mates to heal naturally by 0.2%, which sounds small but is a decent thing to have.

Blue Archive is striking out to Anime Expo complete with special merch to collect

Posted by Shaun Walton on June 19th, 2024

At this point in my writing career, I have seen quite a few press releases come about, and it feels like one of the most frequently updated games there is Blue Archive. It is, of course, great to see a game have a life like this, and now Nexon is taking the next step in its Western development by attending Anime Expo.

Over in the fabled lands of Japan, Blue Archive already enjoys some pretty widespread popularity, thanks to its lineup of characters and tactical combat. The near-constant events, story expansion and characters also help Kivotos continue to pull in the attendees.

Grab a Grammy-inspired Backbone One with the Post Malone collab

Posted by Shaun Walton on June 18th, 2024

There are so many mobile controllers on the market that it could be a little difficult to know which to go for. If you are someone who goes for a good old celebrity endorsement, however, then the new Backbone One might be for you, created as it was with American rapper Post Malone.

It is sometimes hard to take this sort of team-up seriously, never knowing if the celebrity is in it for the passion or the paycheck, but Post Malone does have a history with video games. He has appeared in adverts for games in the past and even turned his hand to Twitch streaming at some points, so it feels like a genuine one, which is nice.

Avatar Legends: Realms Collide pre-registrations open alongside a full-length trailer release

Posted by Shaun Walton on June 17th, 2024

Despite the staying power that the series has, Avatar: The Last Airbender surprisingly fumbled in the mobile gaming sphere, with Generations shuttering about a mere year after launch. Now, Tilting Point is giving it a go, with the upcoming Avatar Legends: Realms Collide.

If you haven’t heard of this, then I hate to burst your buddle, but it is a 4x strategy game. One of those city managers that often try to make you pay for building upgrades or have you wait a month in real time. Only this time there are Avatar characters, which does elevate it, if only a little.

Return to the glory days of tactical RPGs with Sword of Convallaria

Posted by Shaun Walton on June 14th, 2024

Back on the old Sega Mega Drive, or Genesis depending on where you are, there was a little series of tactical role-playing games called Shining Force, and I adored them. It started a love for this grid-based genre that persisted through the years, and I am sure will continue with Sword of Convallaria launches on mobile next month.

Taking place in the land of Iria, XD Entertainment claims the story will contain a rich storyline that lasts 120 hours. They also state that the narrative will change based on your choices, with player agency being a big part of events. It's an assertion we have heard for a lot of games, and time will tell just how deeply their choices will run.
